Austin Energy EV charger rebate

What Austin Energy publishes
On its Plug-In Austin home charging page, Austin Energy describes a rebate that covers 50% of the cost to buy and install a qualified Level 2 (240V) home charging station, with two published caps:
- Up to $1,200 for a Power Partner EV-compatible Level 2 station
- Up to $900 if the station is not Power Partner EV compatible
Austin Energy also states that funding is limited and first-come, first-served, and that offerings can change without notice. EVInstallHub is not inventing a program end date. If the official page is silent on a sunset date, we stay silent too.
Worked example (not a quote)
Suppose the qualified charger plus installation cost is $2,400. Half of that is $1,200.
- Power Partner EV compatible: the 50% figure hits the $1,200 cap
- Not compatible: the rebate stops at the $900 cap

Check the name on the bill
Austin Energy says you must receive electricity from Austin Energy. Living in Greater Austin is not enough. Cedar Park, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Leander, and similar suburbs are not automatically Austin Energy. Read the utility name on the bill. If it is Oncor delivery plus a retail electric provider, or another municipal utility, this rebate does not apply.
EVInstallHub does not publish a suburb-by-suburb utility map. Those boundaries move, and a map we invented would send people to the wrong program.
What else the official page requires

- Active Austin Energy electric customer account
- Purchased or leased plug-in electric vehicle, with proof Austin Energy lists as acceptable
- City of Austin electrical permit and inspection for hard-wired stations and receptacles for plug-in stations
- Licensed electrician for those hard-wired stations and receptacles
- New, listed (UL / ETL / cETL) charging station or receptacle
- One rebate per electric vehicle lease or purchase

Federal 30C is not a live credit
The federal Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit (Section 30C) ended for property placed in service after June 30, 2026. It is not a live residential charger credit.
